High School Outreach
We went to St. Francis Xavier High School in Edmonton to talk to a couple of biology classes about iGEM and Synthetic Biology. We gave presentations that went over the general background of industrial microbiology and then got into what the iGEM competition is all about. We also had a chance to discuss with over 50 students about Upcycled Aromatic's technology and business! Good times!
Standardization in Synthetic Biology
On September 10th, 2012, the University of Alberta iGEM Entrepreneurial Team (Upcycled Aromatics) hosted a panel on standardization in synthetic biology. The panel invited experts and leaders in synthetic biology from both academia and industry in order to discuss the use of standardization techniques in SynBio.
